Why I Love Working at MemorialCare
When Kim Davis performs an electrocardiogram (EKG)—a test that measures the heart's electrical activity—she understands how stressful this simple procedure can be for patients. Kim, an EKG technician at Orange Coast Memorial, was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent surgery eight years ago. Now, as she helps other people with heart problems, she feels she has a chance to give back.
"The great thing about Orange Coast Memorial is the tremendous teamwork within and among departments," she says. "We all pull together to provide the best care for our patients. And that does everyone's heart good."

“Having a radiology scan is not always something people look forward to, so I always try to ease patients’ anxiety and make it a pleasant experience. I’ve been part of the MemorialCare family for almost 20 years, and I love being a radiology technician at Long Beach Memorial because our patient population is so eclectic.”

“As an ultrasound technologist, I work directly with patients using equipment that produces sound waves that create pictures of what’s going on inside the body. I want my patients to have the best care possible, which includes making sure they’re comfortable, explaining the test and answering questions. My team includes eight other ultrasound techs and everyone really cares about what we’re doing. We also keep up with the newest technological developments in the field. I find my job and work environment very satisfying.”

“I came to work at Long Beach Memorial seven years ago because I heard great things about the MemorialCare Breast Center. On an average day, we perform 110 preventive screenings. I always tell each patient that a screening mammogram is very important because it could detect a growth so small that it couldn’t be felt. All employees at the MemorialCare Breast Center try to help our patients feel at ease. I try to relieve any anxiety my patient may have by talking them through the procedure. It’s rewarding work and Long Beach Memorial is definitely where I want to stay and continue my career as a mammotech.”

“I’ve been a cardiac sonographer at the Memorial Heart and Vascular Institute for 22 years, and I still love coming to work every day. Family is one of the most important things in my life, and working here is like being part of a big family. I work with patients of all ages—from newborns to seniors—and I always treat them like family. It’s so satisfying to know you make a difference in people’s lives. I’m a people person, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my patients and helping them get better.”
